falling to grace...

A DanceWorks CoWorks/HOWDARESHE Productions co-presentation, “The physically and emotionally charged show Falling to Grace features the works of acclaimed dancesmiths Tanya Crowder and Julia Sasso. Sasso performs an expanded version of accidental dances, her solo about memory, longing and regret. The revered Sasso has also created a new piece for Crowder—unspeakable—one which presents both the virtuosic and psychological sides of the dancer.” -Paula Citron, Toronto Life

Artistic collaborators include composers Ann Southam, Catherine Thompson and Valerie Calam and designers Rebecca Picherak and Cheryl Lalonde.

“Sasso is one of perhaps a dozen contemporary modern dancers in Canada who is simply breathtaking in motion.” -The Ottawa Citizen

“A new work by… Sasso is a reason to get up and dance…” -NOW

Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT)

About SRT: We''re all born dancers. In SRT we cultivate letting go of unnecessary holding in our physical selves; letting go of stress, preconceptions & fears to rediscover our natural grace, alignment, flexibility & imagination. SRT integrates technique with creative process. Through guided imagery, music & hands-on partner studies the practice facilitates a deep kinesthetic experience of movement & in time, a shedding of outer layers. The class atmosphere is gentle & safe allowing the individual to proceed at their own pace, in their own way. As well as enhancing strength, suppleness, efficiency, availability & freedom, SRT catalyzes one's own process, whatever that may be. It is an experiential, intuitive approach & utilizes imagery as a powerful tool for transformation. Open to all, with or without formal movement training.
